From Friday 19 July to Sunday 21 July, the project team of Gabrovo, in Bulgaria, presented MountResilience during the environmental festival Uzana Polyana Fest.
The essence of the project was presented by Eng. Dr. Desislava Koleva, project manager and director of the Sustainable Development Directorate in Gabrovo Municipality, who spoke about why climate adaptation in mountain regions has an important function for protecting biodiversity and human health by emphasizing that adaptation in sectors such as water management, agriculture and forestry, tourism is of key importance in reducing the negative impact in mountainous regions.
The event continued with an explanation of the purpose of the project, its activities and stages.
In the discussion part of the presentation, the project team and the audience discussed climate risks and gave examples of increasingly frequent extreme climate events and their impact on ecosystem life cycles.
