On 12 November, MountResilience hosted the webinar “Nature-Based Solutions: More Than Just a Trend”, as the inaugural webinar of the NBS4EU Network webinar series.

The webinar was a great success, bringing together 150 participants from across Europe and beyond to discuss the role of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in climate adaptation and resilience. This session marked the official kick-off of the series and highlighted the strong collective interest in clarifying what NBS truly means, how to implement it effectively, and how collaboration across regions and sectors can accelerate the transition towards climate resilience.

Key highlights from the webinar included:

  • Introduction to the NBS4EU Network and MountResilience by Tadej Stepišnik Perdih and Prof. Anna Giorgi
  • Insights from the European Commission on the role of NBS within the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change and the new Commission’s priorities for climate resilience
  • A keynote presentation by Zuzana Lukacova and Ambah Christensen (IUCN) on understanding NBS and its practical implications
  • Experience-sharing from NBS4EU projects, showcasing diverse approaches and solutions
  • An engaging open networking session connecting stakeholders, practitioners, and researchers

The NBS4EU Webinar Series will continue with more thematic sessions designed to deepen knowledge, spark collaboration, and support the effective deployment of Nature-Based Solutions across Europe.

Seven flagship projects funded by the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, MountResilience, LAND4CLIMATE, ARCADIA, NBRACER, DesirMED, CARDIMED, and NATALIE, form the informal NBS4EU Network, united by the shared goal of strengthening the role of NBS in fostering climate resilience and systemic transformation throughout Europe, in alignment with the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change goals.
